DEDICATED alien hunters have been scouring the galaxy for decades, but many are now claiming that we need to look no further than the moon to find signs of extraterrestrial life.

The NASA satellite documents the surface of the moon, taking thousands of stills of its rocky surface and beaming them back to Earth.

And one of those images contains proof that aliens have constructed a base on the moon, according to a prominent UFO hunter called Scott C. Waring.

The alien enthusiast claims the footage is proof that "human-like" creatures live within reach of planet Earth.

And he claims that the "M-shaped" structure is a base of operations for lunar extraterrestrials, which may even also function "as a space craft if necessary."

Writing on alien conspiracy blog UFO Sightings Daily, Scott said: "Here is a great example of a structure on our moon. You can make out the details of its white surface and its sharp 90 degree corners.

“This looks like something that humans would make, which means the species who made it probably look a bit like us.”

Another amateur alien obsessive, YouTuber Streetcap 1, allegedly first stumbled across the "alien base" whilst trawling through NASA photos.

He said the structure must have been built by something - or someone - and refuses to believe that it may just be a naturally occurring rock formation.

NASA has previously suggested that alien sightings such as this one are often due to confirmation bias, which leads people to see what they want to - rather than what's really there.
